Earth Walk

Let’s put some spring in our step this weekend and take a stroll down the avenue. Here’s what’s happening along Becker on Saturday, from 6th to 1st Streets:
Studio 508 12n to 5p
A six-artist show of watercolor, oil, and acrylic canvases; stone tables; and handmade boxes, graciously hosted by Kelly Cross. Joyce Butler, Joanne Ladisa, Jim Lenhert, Gilbert Mello, Darlene Robertson, and Mark Rockey are exhibiting. We hear this show is “seeworthy,” so come feast your eyes.
Books on Becker 12n to 5p
A FREE Cool Beans planting kit and two FREE books for each kid who visits. Adults can browse a curated assortment of environment-themed books selected by local author Laura Sanchez. Bookstore sales support the Belen library, Belen classrooms, and community literacy.
Belen Art League Gallery and Gifts 12n to 5p
A fun, eclectic pop-up show of recycled art, plus a kaleidoscope of artwork in a wide variety of media representing many local artists and artisans.
Smokal Smoke Local 10a to 4p
Art fair! Browse stained glass, greeting cards, totes, wind spinners, hippy barrettes, Rasta art, vegetable bedding plants, metal art, jewelry, and photography from vendors Kevin Sturgeon, Julie Mehrl, Annice Cook, Jo’l Moore, Emily Humada, Mike Carlyle, Deb Vize, and Dave Ute. Enjoy signature Mexican street food from Baca’s Elote food truck. Mars Moran will provide live music, and hopeful shelter dogs will be available for adoption–with fees paid by Smokal.
Old Becker Street Grill 10a to 3p
Chavez Brothers Winery will be serving their refreshing New Mexico wines and beers. Get your happy on!
Silver-Bar Studios 12n to 4p
Take a peek inside a working artist’s studio and one of the coolest vintage buildings on Becker. Katy Raven throws open her doors on Saturday afternoon to share an exhibit of her new work and work in progress.
