
Summer Conservation Camp
This 5-day camp will be July 8-12 from 8:00am-12:00pm each day. The camp is for kids ages 9-14. We will provide a mid-morning snack each day. The focus of the camp is to learn about the following natural resources and how to protect them: water, soil, agricultural land, and wildlife. We will have hands on activities at Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area (WWCA), the NMSU Ag Center in Los Lunas, and the nearby Rio Grande Bosque!
Monday July 8: Introduction to Camp and Soil & Water Conservation (at WWCA)
Tuesday July 9: Conservation Art! Plein Air painting with artist Barbara Andrews (at WWCA)
Wednesday July 10: Land Conservation and Sustainable Agriculture with livestock-meet at NMSU Ag Science Center in Los Chavez
Thursday July 11: Wildlife Conservation! Live Birds-of-Prey presentation and Birding Walk (at WWCA)
Friday July 12: Ecosystem Monitoring and Conservation! BEMPing in the Bosque with the Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program (BEMP) and FREE lunch for campers and families at 12:00 provided by local farmers and ranchers courtesy of Valencia Soil & Water Conservation Area and camp sponsors!
